● active πŸ‡»πŸ‡¬ BVI Since 2023 crypto-first US accepted

Kraken bought Breakout in 2025. The rulebook is the shortest we track and payouts run on demand, but you get paid one way only and the fee never comes back.

This Breakout review covers one of the highest-rated crypto-first firms we track. Breakout sells three one-step evaluations from $20, enforces just two equity limits, and pays out in USDC whenever you ask once your share of profit reaches $50. Since September 2025 it has been owned by Kraken. The trade-offs are a tight 3% daily limit, a single payout rail, and no refund under any circumstances.

What Breakout is and who runs it

Breakout launched in 2023 and raised $4.5 million in a round led by RockawayX before Kraken acquired it, effective 1 September 2025 and announced three days later. Two companies share the work. Breakout Trading Group, LLC, a Delaware company, sells and runs the evaluations. Funded accounts are issued by Payward Oceanic Ltd., which is registered in the British Virgin Islands and belongs to Kraken.

Kraken Prop is the same programme sold inside Kraken Pro with its own prices and payout rail; see our Kraken Prop review for that version. Breakout itself runs on its own Breakout Terminal, not on a Kraken exchange account, and DXtrade has been retired.

Funded accounts are demo accounts with simulated capital, and the funded agreement allows Payward Oceanic to decide, case by case, whether your trades are A-booked or B-booked. Both agreements state that the firm is unregulated.

The ownership shapes three practical things for you as a trader: the only payout rail is USDC on Ethereum, identity checks go through SumSub before you are funded, and the booking of your trades is at the funded-account company's discretion. None of these is unusual on its own, but together they explain most of what follows.

How the challenge works

Plan Target Daily loss Maximum loss
Classic 10% 3% 6% static
Pro 12% 3% 5% static
Turbo 9% 3% 3% static

There are no minimum days, no time limit and no consistency rule; the firm says you can pass in one trade. No KYC is needed to buy or trade the evaluation. Before the funded account is issued you verify through SumSub with a photo ID and selfie. A funded account that goes 90 days without a trade is suspended. A $50,000 Spark plan with a $1,500 trailing floor and no daily limit was sold at $139 but sold out on 29 September 2026.

The rules that matter most

Drawdown

Both limits are measured on equity, so an open loss can breach either one. The daily floor is reset at 00:30 UTC from the closed balance, ignoring open positions. On a $10,000 Classic, the daily limit is $300 and the maximum floor $9,400. If you close the day at $10,400, the next day's daily floor becomes $10,088, while the maximum floor stays at $9,400 forever. A withdrawal lowers the daily floor by the amount taken out. Test your own numbers in the drawdown calculator and read how the reset works in daily drawdown rules.

Consistency and stop-loss

Neither applies. There is no per-trade loss cap and no stop-loss requirement, which puts Breakout on our list of firms with no consistency rule.

Weekends, news and other restrictions

Weekend holding is allowed. The firm publishes no news-trading rule. Hedging is fine inside one account (Hedge Mode is on by default) but banned across accounts or traders. Copy trading and third-party signals are prohibited, and so is trading from the same household, device or IP as another account. You can hold up to $200,000 across funded accounts. The prohibited-practices list in the evaluation agreement is long and discretionary, so read it before you start.

Leverage

Leverage is set per market, not by you. BTC and the two index contracts run at 10x after an increase announced on 12 August 2026. ETH, SOL, XRP, BNB, DOGE and around twenty others run at 5x, a group including HYPE at 3x, and smaller coins at 2x. The evaluation agreement annex dated 27 August 2026 still shows the older figures, so treat the live symbol list as the source of truth. Crypto commission is 0.04% per side, and a financing charge of 0.033% per day is applied every four hours.

Costs and value per $10K

Size Turbo Pro Classic
$5,000 $20 $33 $45
$10,000 $40 $65 $85
$50,000 $180 $280 $400
$100,000 $330 $545 $800
$200,000 $660 $1,090 β€”

Counting the fee plus one reset, the Turbo costs $66 to $80 per $10,000 of funding, the Pro around $109 to $132, and the Classic $160 to $180. The 90% split is a checkout add-on priced at 20% of the fee. Turbo is cheapest, but its 3% maximum gives you half the room of the Classic. Fees are non-refundable once you start trading, though payout balances can buy new evaluations. Checkout takes cards and selected cryptocurrencies. It is on our cheapest crypto prop firms list for good reason.

Turbo is the cheapest ticket, but a 3% static floor means a single bad day can end the account. Price the room you need, not just the fee.

Payouts: speed, method and proof

You keep 80%, or 90% with the add-on. Payouts are on demand, 24/7, as soon as your share of net profit reaches $50. You need no open positions, no breach, and completed KYC. The help centre puts approval at 12 to 24 hours, despite marketing that promises no approval delays.

The only rail is USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20). Send to the wrong network and the money is lost. The firm's public leaderboard lists lifetime payouts by trader, and it claims more than $60 million paid and 20,000 funded accounts, but these are unaudited claims with no on-chain links and no third-party tracker entry. Trustpilot shows 4.7 from about 1,211 reviews, with complaints focused on commissions, spreads and platform quality rather than non-payment. See our guide to crypto prop firm payouts.

Recent rule changes

Nothing changed in October 2026; every price and limit matched our previous check. The most recent firm change was the evaluation agreement annex revision of 27 August 2026. In late September the daily limit was unified at 3% across plans, and the United States moved from "regional restrictions" to simply not appearing on the restricted list.

Who Breakout suits, and who should avoid it

It suits traders who want a short rulebook with no consistency rule, a cheap entry, and fast access to profit. The US, UK and India are not on its 24-country restricted list, though the country count differs between documents. It is a poor fit if you need payouts in anything other than USDC on Ethereum, if you want your fee back after a pass, or if 3% daily is too tight for your style. Compare it with HyroTrader vs Breakout and Crypto Fund Trader vs Breakout, or browse the Breakout alternatives.

Breakout review verdict

Breakout combines a named, exchange-owned operator, a static floor, low prices and on-demand payouts, and that combination is rare. The weaknesses are real but narrow: one payout rail, no refunds, a tight daily limit and rule documents that lag one another. Our CryptoPropFirms score is 82 out of 100, among the best in the crypto-first group. Our referral link gives 5% off a first evaluation; details are on the Breakout discount code page.

On demand, as soon as your post-split profit reaches $50, in USDC on Ethereum only. Approval takes 12 to 24 hours according to the help centre.

Does Breakout have a consistency rule?

No. Breakout has no consistency rule, no minimum days, no time limit and no stop-loss requirement. The only limits are a 3% daily loss and a 3% to 6% static maximum.

Can US traders use Breakout?
