This Kraken Prop review covers the crypto prop programme that Kraken sells inside its Kraken Pro exchange interface. If the plans look familiar, they should: Kraken bought Breakout in 2025, and Kraken Prop is the Breakout programme under a different storefront. It is the cheapest serious entry point in crypto prop trading, and its rules are among the simplest. The trade-offs are access, leverage and how payouts are evidenced.
What Kraken Prop is and who runs it
Two companies split the work. Evaluations are handled by Breakout Trading Group, LLC, registered in Delaware and owned by Kraken since 1 September 2025. Funded accounts come from Payward Oceanic Ltd., a Kraken group entity registered in the British Virgin Islands, under its Funded Trader Agreement. The acquisition release quoted Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi and Breakout co-founder and CEO Alex Miningham.
The landing page promises up to $200,000 of Kraken capital in a funded wallet. The agreement describes that account as simulated, with the company free to treat orders as A-book or B-book. Kraken's own Lite page calls the product an unregulated service. Treat it like any other prop challenge: you are paid from simulated results.
There is also a third version, Kraken Funded, offering $1,000 to $10,000 accounts priced between $20 and $90 in the Kraken app; they carry a 12% target, an 80% split and a fixed 3% floor. It only appears when its tab is visible in your app.
New Kraken accounts opened with a partner voucher can also enter the Kraken Funded Challenge for free. The condition is a $200 deposit and $200 of trading with your own money, after which the entry fee is waived and a pass earns a $1,000 funded account. The entry is free; the qualifying trade is not. Our free crypto prop challenges page compares it with other no-fee routes.
How the Kraken Prop challenge works
Every standard plan is a single phase:
| Plan | Target | Daily limit | Max floor | Sizes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced | 9% | 3% | 3% static | $5Kβ$200K |
| Intermediate | 12% | 3% | 5% static | $5Kβ$200K |
| Starter | 10% | 3% | 6% static | $5Kβ$100K |
| Lite | 6% ($3,000) | none | $1,500 trailing | $50K only |
There is no minimum day count and no time limit, though 90 days without a trade suspends the account. You buy with basic email and country checks, then complete Kraken's full identity check before you receive the funded account. That second step is also where the country exclusions bite.
The rules that matter most
Drawdown
Each day you may lose 3% of the balance Kraken records at 00:30 UTC, with fees and open losses included. The overall floor is anchored to the starting balance and stays put. On a $10,000 Advanced account, a $10,400 balance at reset sets that day's floor at $10,088, while the overall floor stays at $9,700. Our daily drawdown guide explains why the reset time matters, and the drawdown calculator lets you test your own sizes.
The Lite plan swaps both limits for one $1,500 floor that trails the highest closed balance, steps up daily at the 00:30 UTC check and never locks.
One quirk: the signed agreement's annex still describes a 6% 1-step floor and does not mention the 3% and 5% plans actually on sale. We record the storefront values.
No consistency rule
Kraken Prop has no consistency rule on any plan, and none of the profit caps or strategy restrictions that many rivals use. A single strong day can pass you. See how rare that is on our no consistency rule list.
Stop-loss, news, weekends and API
No stop-loss is required and no per-trade cap exists, though per-market position limits apply. News trading is allowed. Weekend holding is allowed, but open positions pay margin funding of 0.033% a day, charged every four hours, which counts toward your limits. Copy trading and hedging across accounts are banned.
The big restriction is automation. There is no API. Every order goes in by hand through Kraken Pro, so bot traders need the Breakout storefront instead.
Costs and value per $10K
Prices run from $20 for a $5,000 Advanced to $1,090 for a $200,000 Intermediate. The only add-on lifts the split to 90% from 80% and costs an extra 20% of the base fee; it is available at checkout only. You can pay with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or from a Kraken USD balance. There is no crypto checkout, fees are non-refundable once trading starts, and we found no discount codes.
Counting the fee plus one reset:
| Size | Advanced | Advanced + 90% split | Intermediate | Starter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10,000 | $80 | $96 | $130 | $170 |
| $100,000 | $66 | $79.20 | $109 | $160 |
The $10,000 Advanced, at $80 per $10,000, ties for the cheapest single phase on our one-step crypto prop firms list. It is cheap partly because the 3% floor is unforgiving. The $139 Lite plan was cheaper still, but its 1,500-place release sold out in October 2026.
Payouts: speed, method and proof
You can ask for a payout as soon as net profit hits $50. All positions and orders must be closed first. A manual review typically takes under 12 hours and never more than 24. The money arrives in your primary Kraken wallet, in USD or USDG, and you withdraw from there in the usual way.
Payouts are an internal Kraken ledger transfer. That is fast, but it leaves no transaction hash for anyone outside Kraken to verify.
The agreement still mentions USDC on Ethereum through the Breakout Terminal, which describes Breakout's rail, not this one. If on-chain proof matters to you, our payout guide explains what to look for.
Recent changes
The only firm change we logged in October 2026 was the Lite release selling out by 8 October. Breakout raised BTC leverage to 10x on its own storefront in August 2026, but Kraken had published no matching change at our last check. Every entry is in our rule changes log.
Who Kraken Prop suits, and who should avoid it
It suits budget traders, discretionary traders who make most of their target in a few strong sessions, and anyone who already holds a verified Kraken account and wants payouts that land beside their exchange balance.
Avoid it if you live in Canada, India or the UK, if you run bots, if you need more than 5x leverage, or if you want public proof of every payout. In those cases Breakout offers the same rules with an API and on-chain USDC, and Propr pays on chain from a public feed.
Kraken Prop review verdict
Our Kraken Prop review scores it 76 out of 100. Cost is its standout, with no consistency rule and static floors close behind. The penalties are the country exclusions, the manual-only interface, low leverage and a payout rail that only Kraken can see. If those don't affect you, it is the cheapest legitimate way into a crypto challenge, backed by one of the oldest names in the industry.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kraken Prop the same as Breakout?
Yes. Breakout Trading Group runs the evaluations and Payward Oceanic, a Kraken group company, runs the funded accounts, with identical plans and prices. Kraken Prop differs by paying into a Kraken wallet, having no API, using Kraken Pro, and excluding Canada, India and the UK.
Is Kraken Prop legit?
Yes. Its funded accounts are provided under a published agreement by a Kraken group company, and the Breakout acquisition was publicly announced. The main gap is that payouts are internal transfers with no public proof.
How much does Kraken Prop cost?
From $20 for a $5,000 Advanced plan up to $1,090 for a $200,000 Intermediate plan. A 90% split add-on costs an extra 20% of the fee.
Does Kraken Prop have a consistency rule?
No. No plan has a consistency rule, a minimum day count or a deadline.
How does Kraken Prop pay out?
Whenever net profit is at least $50, in USD or USDG to your primary Kraken wallet, following a review that usually finishes inside 12 hours and never exceeds 24.
Can US traders use Kraken Prop?
The US is not named as unavailable, but the programme does not state outright that it accepts US residents. Kraken Pro must also be available to you where you live.
