How We Rate Crypto Prop Firms

Every value we publish comes from the firm's own page, carries a check date and feeds a 100-point score built from five equally weighted criteria.

Our prop firm rating methodology rests on one rule: if the firm has not published it, we do not record it. Every rule, price and payout term is stored only alongside three things: the link to the firm page stating it, the day we read it and an archived snapshot. Those values feed every table, calculator and score on the site.

The evidence rule

"No source, no value" has three practical effects:

  • A value the firm has not published appears as "Not published by the firm". We never estimate it from a competitor or a forum post.
  • If two of the firm's own documents disagree, we flag it internally and hold it back until someone on the team settles which is right.
  • The date beside each value shows when we last saw it on the firm's site, not when our page was regenerated.

Snapshots matter because firm pages change without notice. It proves what the page said on the day we read it.

The CryptoPropFirms score: our prop firm rating methodology

Each firm gets a score out of 100. We rate five criteria from 0 to 100 each, then take the simple average, so every criterion carries a fifth of the weight. Affiliate status is not an input.

Criterion What we measure Values used
Rules leniency How much room the rules give a normal trader Daily and overall loss limits, whether the overall floor trails, any single-trade cap or mandatory stop, best-day caps, minimum trading days and deadlines
Total cost What it really costs to get funded Fee per account size, extra charges for resets or activation, whether the fee comes back
Payout terms How much you keep and how reliably it arrives Split, wait to first payout, frequency, minimum, currency, payout proof
Transparency How clearly and consistently the firm documents itself Published terms, contradictions between documents, named legal entity
Who can join How many traders can actually use it Banned countries, when identity checks happen, regional platform gaps

How rules leniency is scored

We score rules leniency on whichever of the firm's models is friendliest and has a documented drawdown type. Points start as daily limit % added to overall limit %, then 2 points for a static maximum, 2 for no consistency rule and 1 for no per-trade cap. Points sit on a fixed scale from 6 (3% daily, 3% maximum, no bonuses) scoring 0, up to 22 (5% daily, 12% maximum, every bonus) scoring 100. Because the scale is fixed, one firm's rules never shift another firm's score.

The other four criteria

Total cost looks at the fee per unit of funding, adds the reset and activation fees a trader is likely to meet, and credits a refund. Payout terms rewards a higher starting split, a shorter wait, more frequent and smaller-minimum withdrawals, crypto payout options, and proof that can be checked outside the firm. Transparency rewards complete published terms and a named legal entity and penalises documents that contradict each other. Who can join rewards wide country access, reasonable KYC timing and no regional platform gaps.

Scores recompute from the records whenever a value changes. Nobody edits a score by hand.

When documents contradict each other

The terms bind the trader; marketing does not. When they disagree, we record the terms and show both statements with dates. A dated announcement beats an undated annex. See our guide to simulated vs real capital for why the terms usually decide whether an account is live.

How often we re-check

Cadence Scope
Weekly Firms with a full review, especially prices and payout terms
Monthly Every firm and every field, plus a status check
On signal A firm announcement, social post or spike in complaints triggers a same-day re-check

A changed value is written to the changes log with old value, new value, source and date.

Which firms are included

To be listed, a firm must sell an evaluation whose funded account allows crypto trading. It is marked active, closed (confirmed by announcement, regulator or dated news), unreachable (site down on two checks a day apart) or excluded (checked and found not to qualify).

What we cannot verify

Figures such as pass rates, the number of funded traders or lifetime payouts stay labelled as the firm's own claims until someone independent verifies them. On-chain payout IDs prove those payments, not that everyone was paid. We cannot see order routing, and stated payout speeds are recorded as claims. Errors are fixed under our corrections policy, and our commercial ties are listed in the affiliate disclosure. Put the scores to work on our best crypto prop firms ranking.

Frequently asked questions

How is the CryptoPropFirms score calculated?

We give each of five criteria (rules leniency, payout terms, total cost, who can join and transparency) a 0-100 score, then average the five for a score out of 100.

Does paying a commission improve a firm's score?

No. Affiliate status is not an input, and every firm is scored by the same formula from its own published values.

What happens when a firm has not published a value?

The page shows it as not published by the firm. We never fill gaps with estimates or third-party claims.

How often are values re-checked?

Reviewed firms weekly, every firm monthly, and any firm the same day when an announcement or complaint spike suggests a change.
