Most crypto prop firms in India are open to you: 18 of the 19 firms that publish a country list accept Indian traders, at our last check. Breakout is the cleanest crypto-first choice, with India absent from its restricted list, no RBI listing, and USDC payouts on demand from $50. Velotrade is next, with a sanctions-only list and USDC or USDT payouts on Arbitrum. Cointracts is the only firm that takes Indian rupees, through UPI at checkout.
This page describes firm terms and public rules. It is not legal or tax advice.
Which crypto prop firms in India accept you
The published lists fall into four groups:
- Open with no limit. Breakout, Velotrade, Mubite, HyroTrader, Propr, HyperPNL, SizeProp, Upscale, Fundedbit, PropW, The5ers, BrightFunded, AquaFunded, Funded Trader Markets, Goat Funded Trader and FundingPips.
- Open with a cap. E8 Markets limits its E8 One account to $200,000 for India.
- Open by its list, but named by the RBI. FTMO does not restrict India, but the RBI's Alert List names it at entry 13 (list dated 19 November 2025).
- Closed. Kraken Prop excludes India, along with Canada and the UK. Breakout, the same programme under its own brand, does not.
Eight firms publish no country list, including Cointracts, Crypto Fund Trader, Bitfunded, Klein Funding, WenCrypto, TradeXProp and Dolvero.

What the RBI and tax law say
There is no RBI ruling on prop firms as such. The RBI's Alert List names entities not authorised to deal in forex under FEMA or to run forex trading platforms, and it warns that a name missing from the list does not mean authorisation. The 19 November 2025 list has 95 entries, three of them prop firms: FTMO, Smart Prop Trader and FundedNext. A crypto prop account is simulated and you pay a fee for an evaluation, but whether that falls under FEMA has not been decided publicly.
Check the current RBI Alert List before you pay any firm. If the amounts are large, take advice from an Indian lawyer and a chartered accountant.
On tax, India taxes income from virtual digital assets at 30% under section 115BBH, with 1% TDS on transfers under section 194S. A payout in USDT is a fee for a service, and how it should be classified is not settled in public guidance. Keep every invoice and payout record. Our taxes guide covers the general picture.
Five checks for Indian traders
- Search the RBI Alert List for the firm's name. Breakout and Velotrade are open to India and not listed.
- Know when KYC happens. E8 Markets verifies before purchase, so a failed check costs nothing. Goat Funded Trader checks at the first payout. See the KYC guide.
- Plan the rupee conversion. A USDT or USDC payout must be converted, which is a crypto transfer for tax purposes. A Rise payout can land in a bank.
- Keep records. Firms with payout certificates or ledgers, like Dolvero and Velotrade, make this easier.
- Avoid anything that asks you to fund a trading account. A real prop challenge charges a fee for a simulated account. A request to deposit trading funds is the pattern the RBI warns about.
Trade-offs
Cointracts is the only rupee checkout, starting at $24.90 for a $2,000 2-step, but it publishes no country list, has a Trustpilot score of 2.1 from 96 reviews, and its payout timelines differ across its own pages. Read the Cointracts review.
Breakout has a clear list and $20 entry, but USDC on Ethereum is its only payout rail, and you must buy through Breakout, not Kraken. See the Breakout review.
Velotrade has static drawdown on every plan and an Arbiscan link for each payout, but caps the first two payouts at 20 times the challenge fee. See the Velotrade review.
E8 Markets offers crypto perpetuals at 1:15 on majors but pays only through Rise. See the E8 Markets review.

Frequently asked questions
Can Indian traders join crypto prop firms?
Yes. 18 of the 19 firms with a published country list accept India. Kraken Prop is the exception, and E8 Markets caps E8 One at $200,000 for India.
Is trading with a crypto prop firm legal in India?
There is no specific RBI ruling. The RBI's Alert List names some prop firms, including FTMO, as unauthorised forex platforms. Check the current list and take local legal advice for large amounts.
Which crypto prop firm accepts rupees?
Cointracts is the only firm we track that takes Indian rupees, through UPI at checkout. Others sell in dollars or euros by card or crypto.
How are prop firm payouts taxed in India?
The treatment is not settled. Crypto income is taxed at 30% under section 115BBH with 1% TDS under section 194S, but how a USDT payout is classified is unclear. Keep records and ask a chartered accountant.
